Mythbusters – Season 9, Episode 6

I adore mythbusters so much, and I figured I would comment on that, too. Just because I can.

Episode: Blow Your Own Sail
Network: Discovery Channel
Watched: 13 May 2011, around 9 AM

I love watching the Foley Guy for the “Movie Sounds” stuff that Adam and Jamie are doing. Foley is such a fascinating art. and I know why they didn’t change the rattlesnake noise. People who’ve descended of lines that have experience with rattlesnakes seem to have a hair-raising reaction that’s programed into their guts. I certainly have it. I’m with Adam on the suppresser. It’s amazing how quiet those get.

And another thought experiment! I love thought experiment testing. They’re also so fascinating. It’s been fun watching Kari, Grant and Tori test “Blow your own sail”. The effects of the sail on the overall boat weren’t really that surprising for me. A swamp skimmer counts on a hydroplane for speed. With extra weight in the front, the hydroplane was more difficult to achieve. It is amazing that the experiment worked, though. They over-road newtonian physics by adding enough extra force.

I’m sad. They didn’t blow anything up, yet.

Though it appears they’re getting right to it for the finalie! I want det cord. And C4. Please make a note and put it on my birthday request lists, thank you.
