I’m already putting out another one on a movie, simply because I just watched this one for the first time and feel like writing up my feelings is a good way wrap up the watching experience.
Film: Wreak-it Ralph
Studio: Disney
Watched: 10 March 2013 (I didn’t get to see it in the theater…)
I had a great time watching this movie, and want to watch it again just to try and catch the attention to detail that was put into it.
The basic premiss is “the life of videogame characters”, and it centers around the villain of Fix-it Felix (a Donkey Kong type game) who is experiencing an existential crisis about his place in the world. The film puts story first, making sure that every element of videogame reference supports the storyline and does not serve as any sort of distraction.
Cleverness abounds, as does a positive message about being proud of yourself and finding the greatness of what makes you, you instead of trying to conform to the ideals of others. I highly suggest watching this film (if not outright buying it – It’s highly re-watchable).
